On October 21, 2008 celebrating the continuation of John Hodgman’s gift of knowledge. Complete world knowledge, that is. In his book “Areas of My Expertise” Hodgman, a satirist/comedian whose work is commonly seen on The Daily Show and as the PC from the Mac/PC commercials, revealed the world of the hoboes, including names for 700 hoboes. Now, with his new compendium, “More Information Than You Require” we learn of the deranged world below our own world of the strange naked-mole-rat-like people known enigmatically as “The Mole-men”.

It’s Election Day on Tuesday! I hope you are able to get out and vote. Last week, I unveiled an image I found while cruising the internet. This image was a button, view it here. I pondered that it may be a button that Hacksaw may have used or is planing to use for obtaining public office. I was curious about the asterisk following Hacksaw’s name. I figured it may have been his political affiliation, “The Asterisk Party.” Loops, a fellow artist and bewilderedkid dot com reader, pointed out the Asterisk Party agenda.

I was able to come across this weeks image as proof to my suspicions! Actually, I made it, but I believe it’s still quite funny.

Behold a new adventure in the bewilderedkidiverse!

I have a few projects that I am currently working on. I am really excited about all of them. However, this particular project is something that has been brewing in my head for the past year. I got a false start on it this year, but had to step back and retool it. I’m now back to square one, but I at least have the main characters designed and a clear game plan.

This is, obviously, an older photo of Jim Duggan. In fact, if I were to venture a guess, this was probably taken before joining the WWF and becoming “Hacksaw”. This and the October 21st post are examples of what working for Vince McMahon and allowing him to turn your independent/territorial professional wrestling identity into a cartoon character to be enjoyed by millions of children that grew up in the 1980s and early 1990s.

Mind you, I’m not disrespecting Duggan’s choice or McMahon’s business. Let’s be honest, if it weren’t for this transformation I wouldn’t be writing about the World’s Greatest flag toting, 2 x 4 holding, slobbering, hairy faced, cross eyed, professional wrestler sports entertainer.

Long distance internet friend and contributor to Super Fantastica Comix, Josh Blair, has included me in his latest mini-comic anthology, Candy or Medicine.

Josh really has his stuff together. He has compiled five 4.25″ x 5.5″ black and white minis on a timely, quarterly schedule over the past year. I sought out Josh via Comic Space as we were starting similar projects at about the same time in the summer of 2007 - his being the aforementioned Candy or Medicine and mine being Super Fantastica Comix. We were both intent on releasing these on a quarterly basis. Well, as I stated before, Josh has his stuff together. Nearly a year and a half later he has released five mini comic anthologies to my three. Also, Josh charges a significantly less amount than the constantly price fluctuating SFC. I was surprised and flattered that I was the first artist mentioned in his press release! Also, I received a strong placement in his anthology as the last story of the book (one other artist, Steve Rack” received the back cover with a cool little maze activity). Thanks Josh! My comic, a one pager entitled “10-minute comic,” was truthfully a comic created in ten minutes. I know, sad, right? I really enjoyed all ten minutes of it though, if that counts for anything!

Also, I noticed fellow Minnesotan and creator of Mayflies and Slide Guitars, Ed Moorman, makes an appearance with a three page story named “A Craigslist “Missed Connection.”

I plan on contributing to upcoming issues. In fact, I would love to spend more than ten minutes on the next one! Would you like to contribute? Go to the site and submit! Please be aware that he is a bit backed up with submissions, so your work may appear in a later issue.

The Tuesday Duggan: Deuce Deuce?

You may recall a while ago I had a post about good ole Hacksaw and his poor choice of ring attire being a pair of overalls. You can see the post here. In that post I had pointed out a cage dancer in the background that perhaps suggested that Duggan was fighting at the Deuce Deuce (strip club/bar).

Well, it looks like that suggestion may have been true, since Duggan appears to be at some sort of seedy bar, 2 x 4 in hand looking for a fight. I think I might even see a pulltab booth in the background.

Moral of the story here. Don’t mess with Hacksaw. He will fight you anywhere.

St. Paul Jam - Thursday, November 20th, 2008

Come and celebrate regime changes and the wholesale slaughter of turkeys by jamming with the St. Paul Conspiracy cell this Thursday! Just bring some drawing utensils, an idea for the jam, and a few bucks to get a tasty beverage — the baristas really do appreciate that.
