FallCon Samples!

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

For those that haven’t been reading the blog recently and have no idea what FallCon is, please refer to this post prior to reading.

For those that have been reading the blog, you must understand all of the lengths that I’ve been going to in order to have some sort of “presence” at FallCon. Last year, I had zero books to offer. This year, I’ve produced three mini anthologies (with some great assistance by all of the great contributors), created a 24 Hour Comic (although it isn’t the greatest work I’ve done, it is still quite the accomplishment), published Super Maxi-Pad Girl, assisted in the design of the Super Maxi-Pad Girl plush toy, and I assembled the Official Hanbook to the bewilderedkidiverse 2008!

Below are a couple of images of a one page story I did for the latest Super Fantastica Comix anthology and a page of the Handbook. You can click on each for larger images.

Super Maxi-Pad Girl Plush Toys Finished!

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

I know that I gave a preview of the first Super Maxi-Pad Girl plush toy about two weeks ago, but AJ put the finishing touches on the remaining nine this morning. Here they are sitting in a box just waiting to be lugged on over to FallCon.

The Tuesday Duggan: Comic Conventions!

Tuesday, October 7th, 2008

I was intending to post about my experience at the 2008 FallCon in St. Paul prior to posting “The Duggan,” but alas that didn’t happen. However, I did find this picture of the 2 x 4 carrying ex-football player while he was attending the 2005 Motor City Convention in Detroit. He looks like he was having a grand old time! Along with all of the other creators at FallCon, I received a little promo card inviting me to Motor City Con. Maybe if I got a table there I’d be able to meet Hacksaw.

Super Fantastica Comix Summer/Fall 2008 Released!

Friday, October 10th, 2008

The much anticipated and newest edition of Super Fantastica Comix was released at the MCBA FallCon 2008 last weekend! This edition includes 24 pages of stories, printed in black and white, along with two pages of artist biographies.

As you can see for only three dollars you get a beautifully illustrated cover by the incomparable Steve Stwalley! This edition’s theme was PSA and the contributors did their very best to create a one to five page story that somehow (subtly or not) include that acronym. Creators include: Amado Rodriguez, Ben Z, Bob Lipski, Brian Bastian, Bud Burgy, Daniel J. Olson, Danno Klonowski, Ray N., Ryan Dow, Steven Stwalley, Vanesa Littlecrow

This printing is limited to 50 copies and will hit comic shops so gracious to carry it soon! More info on where to find it will follow later. In the meantime, enjoy some pictures from the book!

Vote on November 4th!

Saturday, October 11th, 2008

I’m sure you’re saying to yourself, “of course I am going to vote on November 4th!” Well, you might be mistaken on which election I am referring to. OF COURSE, there is an election featuring Barack “The Change Agent” Obama and his running mate Joe “Kid Gloves” Biden who are up against John “The Maverick” McCain and Sarah “W with Lipstick” Palin. HOWEVER, there is another election which has been somewhat overlooked and is likely to garner more enthusiasm from me than the road to the White House.

On September 20th, 2008, Steve Stwalley creator of Soapy the Chicken began posting his strips again with a fervor I hadn’t seen in quite sometime. Maybe its because he is now used to getting no sleep and just needs to find something to do with the freetime he would usually get when he’d have a moment to nod off, or maybe its because he’s a drunk, but Steve is allowing the public to VOTE for a new CARTOON REGIME CHANGE!

Go to Soapy the Chicken dot com and vote for Quackers, Mallard, or Frog. You’ll figure it out when you get there. But by all means VOTE on November 4th! This is the most important election you will vote in all year!

Who am I voting for? Well, didn’t you see the graphic when you started reading this? I’m voting for Frog of course! Why? Because I like losing.

New Online Store!

Sunday, October 12th, 2008

See that button above this text? That along with the entire, brand spankin’ new bewilderedkid dot com online store was what became of my Sunday.

Why did I put myself through ten plus hours of belaboring effort to get an new online store up and running? Well, believe it or not I’ve had more than one person ask recently, where can I buy the comics that you’ve done? The fact that somebody is willing to throw money down for something I created, is still shocking to me, but unless you know me personally, run into me at conventions, or happen to come across some comic shop that has been gracious enough to carry my stuff, there is 99.9% of a chance you won’t be getting your grimy mitts on my merch.

Well, now that has changed! You can purchase Super Maxi-Pad Girl the comic and the plush toy, the Official Handbook to the bewilderedkidiverse, all of the issues of Super Fantastica Comix, and my first ever 24 Hour Comic Day…comic, ONLINE!!! Hooray!

Now, I just need to sit and wait for that to actually happen.

St. Paul Jam - Thursday, October 16th, 2008

Monday, October 13th, 2008

The Dow has been crazy these last two weeks, and this time I am not talking about Ryan! Come and forget about your 401K, if you have/had one, and jam with us! Just bring some drawing utensils, an idea for the jam, and a few bucks to get a tasty beverage — the baristas really do appreciate that.

The jam will start promptly at 6:30 and run until…whenever.

To join us come to:
Cosmic’s Coffee Shoppe
189 Snelling Ave N.
St. Paul, MN 55104
(Northwest corner of Snelling and Selby)

Afterwards we will most likely get a jump on the next GREAT DEPRESSION and head on over to grab a brew at:
O’Gara’s Bar and Grill
164 Snelling Ave N
St. Paul, MN 55104
(Southeast corner of Snelling and Selby)

In the meantime, if you have any ideas or just want to chat about the upcoming jam, please follow the link!

The Tuesday Duggan: What is your function?

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

After performing for years in front of crowds all over the world, it takes “Hacksaw” all but a few seconds after stepping foot into, what is obviously, somebody’s house for him to make the creepiest expression ever.

Seriously, this guy looks like he would shank somebody! Maybe I’m on to something. As you can plainly see he has the WCW World Television Championship belt in his grasp. Perhaps he was just trying to recover some missing memorabilia (a la O.J. “Ya Got Me” Simpson)? I could have this completely wrong though. It might be that his nipples are just really cold.
